In 2016, the Howard Karagheusian MBPO, the Jinishian Memorial Foundation, the Caroline Cox Rehabilitation Center in Stepanakert, and the Government of the Artsakh Republic expressed their readiness to establish a rehabilitation center for children diagnosed with autism and pediatric cerebral palsy in Artsakh.
Program’s goals:
- promote the effective development of children with autism and cerebral palsy
- create the necessary conditions for their recovery, education, activities, and adaptation to the social environment
- develop cognitive-physical abilities of speech formation and perception abilities.
The rehabilitation center serves children aged 3.5-16 with a diagnosis of autism. The center has specially equipped rooms for all necessary programs. The project is being implemented at the Caroline Cox Rehabilitation Center in Stepanakert. The aim of the partnership is to integrate children with autism into everyday life.
The center employs speech therapists, psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, special educators, social workers, educators, and one financial assistant.
All employees periodically undergo specialization courses lasting 4 months.
