Hearing Aid Provision

in partnership with “Arabkir” Medical Center – Institute of Child and Adolescent Health

The normal development of children with hearing loss is possible only at the right time and with the appropriate prosthetics. In 2002, MBPO provided 41 children with hearing loss high-quality European hearing aids. In 2018, the program grew to provide hearing aids for 257 children. Hearing aids come with accompanying earbuds.

Since 2007, children have also received digital hearing aids such as the Oticon SUMO DM and Oticon Sensei SP. Most children with hearing aids do well in public schools. However, some suffer psychological difficulties associated with communication and speech. Since 2017, the “Arabkir” center and Howard Karagheusian MBPO have been organizing rhythmic dance lessons that contribute to the development of coordination of the senses and auditory perception, the formation of a sense of movement, balance, and rhythm.

Computer courses have also been organized for 20 children with hearing impairments to facilitate necessary computer skills.
