Howard Karagheusian Medical Benevolent Public Organization ( HKMBPO) \u00a0for emergency relief, announced Harry S.\u00a0Cherken, Jr., Chair.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0funds\u00a0will\u00a0provide\u00a0immediate assistance and medium-term solutions for the incoming Armenian refugees from\u00a0Nagorno Karabagh (Artsakh).\u00a0These funds are\u00a0in addition to\u00a0the Karagheusian\u00a0annual\u00a0donation\u00a0for pediatric dentistry,\u00a0social\u00a0and\u00a0ophthalmic services, and children\u2019s hearing aid assistance,\u00a0in Armenia. \u00a0Founded in 1992, the HKMBPO operates four centers in Armenia located in Yerevan (Nork), Gyumri, Goris and Vandazor.<\/p>\n<p>The catastrophic exodus of the Artsakh population from these ancestral \u00a0lands is yet again another\u00a0mass resettlement for the Armenian nation.\u00a0Deprived of the bare needs of survival, refugees have begun to arrive at the plaza in Goris where the HKMBPO\u00a0and others\u00a0are coming forward to assist displaced residents of Artsakh with food, water,\u00a0personal hygiene\u00a0necessities and baby\u00a0supplies. Distribution of consumables in the form of family parcels of essentials at the Goris refugee registration center is ongoing during the arrival of the population. The HKMBPO offices in Goris have also been converted into temporary housing for families in transit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe need is great, and the situation is dire,\u201d said a staff member of the HKMBPO Goris operations. \u201cIn addition to beginning to distribute life\u2019s necessities to these refugees,\u201d she continued, \u201cwe\u00a0accommodated families in our center temporarily\u00a0and distributed 700 food boxes as of Saturday\u00a0(Sept. 30<sup>th<\/sup>). We will continue as crowds\u00a0come in.
